Game Rules

Game Description

In this year's CRC Robotics competition, the main goal is for your team, composed of two robots, to score as many points as possible using game pieces. There are 59 regular pieces and 1 red game piece, with each heat played in five minutes. At the end of a heat, the minimum score is zero. The game is played on a long octagonal field with three towers in the center, one with 7 levels and the other two with 6.

Scoring:

In order to score points, your team must place a game piece, with your team's color face up, on the various levels of the towers, starting from the bottom and going up. The points double at each level with the level one starting at 10 points. There is also a red game piece with the ability to make all the game pieces below it get canceled resulting in no points being counted. Another way to gain points is to knock over the original game pieces onto the playing field with your team's color face up, by doing so your team will gain 35 points. To determine which team receives the points, a picture from the aerial view is taken as soon as the game ends.

Score Multiplier:

In addition, your final points can be multiplied by 1.5 if your team constructs the taller tower between the two. This is made in their zone dedicated to building your multiplier, for which the number of pieces does not matter. In the case of a tie, each team would receive a multiplier of 1.25.

Penalties:

There are various penalties. If your robot leaks liquid, it cannot obtain points. Your robot cannot be deemed dangerous in any way, or else it could be disqualified for either the heat, or even the whole competition. If a robot loses parts of itself, the team that the robot belongs to will have their score reduced by 4% for each of the pieces left on the ground. All pieces touching each other are counted as one.
